Rising Stars Ireland
May 27, 2025My mind’s eye had Saltburn. I imagined actors and directors festooned around the house and grounds of the magnificent Lis na Carrig on the outskirts of Dublin but first I had to survive a night with old friends in the city. (Names will be withheld to protect the not so innocent. I’m told everyone knows everyone in Dublin). J had gone to bed and A kept filling our glasses with gin in to the small hours. By morning she was in A&E (with something unrelated. Kind of) and I, to use a Trumpian superlative had the worst cold and hay fever in history.
My taxi arrived after at least half an hour of solid sleep. Fortunately the people at Lis na Carrig were great and most importantly the coffee was abundant and the lunch excellent. As usual with this kind of thing, the eleven subjects had impressive CVs, didn’t bite and were actually very kind to the snivelling and sneezing old fool with the camera. I’m looking forward to more face spotting on the box and in cinema. With or without gin.
